My client, a leading building services consultancy in Birmingham is looking for a Graduate/Junior Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with up to 2 years of experience (or a recent graduate) to kick-start their career in building services engineering. You’ll be working alongside experienced engineers on a variety of projects across sectors including commercial, residential, education, and healthcare — learning how to design and deliver high-quality electrical systems from concept to completion.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assist in the design of electrical building services systems, producing drawings, layouts, and calculations under supervision.
• Support with lighting, power, and containment layouts, using design tools such as Dialux/Relux, Amtech, or Revit.
• Help prepare design documents, specifications, and reports.
• Work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and other design disciplines.
• Visit sites with senior engineers to gain hands-on experience of how designs are implemented.
• Learn about building regulations, sustainability standards, and industry best practices.
• Receive ongoing mentorship, training, and support as you progress towards professional accreditation (IEng or CEng).

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
• Up to 2 years’ experience in electrical building services design (placements or internships welcome).
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and ideally Revit.
• Good understanding of basic electrical principles such as cable sizing, lighting design, and load assessments.
• Enthusiasm to learn, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude.
