Senior CNC Programmer | Up to £50,000 | On-site – Cambridge

We're working with a UK-based R&D centre that’s proudly committed to keeping engineering, design and manufacturing right here in Britain. With cutting-edge technology and a culture that values innovation, they’re now looking for an ambitious and detail-driven Senior CNC Programmer to join their highly skilled team.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with a strong CAD/CAM background and hands-on CNC machining experience to take real ownership in a senior, autonomous role. You'll have the freedom to lead by example, drive process improvements, and play a vital role in shaping how things are done on the shop floor.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Setting up and managing CNC machines to perform a range of complex jobs
  • Translating engineering drawings into precise dimensions for production
  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of the machine shop, meeting production schedules
  • Conducting quality checks and ensuring final output meets exacting standards
  • Regularly inspecting and maintaining machines to ensure peak performance
  • Leading on process improvement and supporting junior team members
  • Keeping on top of mechanical and safety assessments

What we’re looking for:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with CNC Machining (3, 3+2 and 5 axis)
  • Strong background in Delcam, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Hypermill (essential)
  • At least 5 years' experience in CNC programming and operating
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and CAD files
  • Experience machining aluminium, stainless steel, and titanium
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances and fine surface finishes
  • High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and a proactive mindset
  • Great communication skills and confidence working independently or as part of a team
  • Experience with CNC wire eroding is a big plus

This is a career-defining role for someone who’s hungry to take the next step, influence change, and be part of something that’s truly invested in the future of British manufacturing.
